Dr. Sahani C. Howie
Dr. Howie was born in Sri Lanka and immigrated to the US in 1988. She is an honors graduate from Wagner College in Staten Island NY where she received her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology. She went on to receive her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) in 2007. While at NYCPM, Dr. Howie received many awards including the APMA Educational Foundation Scholarship, Maimonides Scholarship and was named a Sidney Solid Scholar.
After completing education in New York, Dr. Howie went on to complete a prestigious podiatric medical and surgical residency at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford, CT. This is where she finessed her surgical skills and developed her passion for wound care and limb salvage.
Dr. Howie received the 2012 SAWC Fall Wound Care Podiatrist of the Year Award. She was also recognized by the students of her alma matta-NYCPM - with the Alumni Appreciation Award in 2014. She was involved with the Bridgeport Hospital Podiatric Surgery Residency Program from 2010 to 2014. She is currently serving as the Young Physcian Liaison to the American Podiatric Medical Association's Coding Committee. She lectures on various topics from ICD-10, Coding, Limb Salvage to community lectures on injury prevention and wound care. She is available for lectures on request.
Dr. Howie was in private practice at Family Podiatry Center in Bridgeport, CT from 2010 to 2014. In 2014, she relocated to Richmond, VA in search of kinder weather! She now resides in Richmond, VA with her husband Daniel and their furkid (dog) Pumpkin.
